I am moving to a new home on base. I need to be here and help my 8 month preg wife move. Can my unit force me to go to the field?

I wouldn't say force you or I need. I would say if your unit says you need to go to the field then you need to go to the field. Last time I checked we followed orders. How many thousands of pregnant wives moved while their husbands were overseas.

Yes, they can make you do anything SGT Private RallyPoint Member, but the question is should they. I would recommend, as MSG Tom Earley suggested... NCO support channel, chain of command, and then go from there.

Most Commands have Spouse Groups that can be helpful when the military member is unavailable. That and friends, family. Please don't let your wife do any heavy lifting. Also, if its an authorized move you can hire a moving company to do the heavy lifting. Congrats on the baby!
