I am PCS’ing this summer. Should I rent or sell my home in El Paso? What are pros and cons of both?

Depends on the are, i bought a house at Ft. Bragg and we chose to keep it and rent it because there are always personnel PCS'ing to bragg and was easy to rent. Once a year we check to see the market value and eventually may sell if it seems worth it. For now though, someone is paying it down for us.

Now im in Northern VA and wont buy here, but depending on where we go to next we will likely buy again and rent it out too if its in a high traffic area as well.

Consider this. Our economy is not as robust as this admin. let's on to be. The housing market has it's up and down at the moment. Remember what happened in 2008 under Bush (R). The real estate market went belly up. It took several years to recover under the Obama (D) admin. Now with this admin. it is like flipping a coin. Our National Debt has just surpassed 23 Trillion dollars. This is not a good economy. Several financial experts are predicting a recession in the coming months. Not as bad as Reagan (R), or Bush (R). But a recession all the same. Renting is a headache. I have done it several times and swear will never do it again. But there are alternatives. Signing a contract with a Real Estate Co. that specializes in rentals. they take care of everything including collecting your rent. They take a small monthly fee for their services. The lease is for a minimum of a year. So if you wanted to move back in to your house you would have to wait. Selling of course is a decision only you can make. Again, with the ups and downs in this real estate market as it is today. One has to wonder if one is going to get the maximum one seeks. Good luck!

With a good realtor selling is easy and fast. My home was listed and we had an offer within 2 days. Sell and avoid headaches of maintenance and having to deal with renters or an empty house. Some places offer to manage this but won’t give the home the same attention you do.
