I am PCSing to Bragg with my family. Where should I stay away from when looking for homes and what places would y’all recommend?

Never been assigned to Bragg, but my brother lived in Raeford, and it was very nice.

Don't live in Fayetteville unless you can afford the expensive part. Look in Raeford, Sanford, Hope Mills, Southern Pines, Whispering Pines

Stay away from Fayetteville if you can afford to. Closer to base but higher crime rate. They don’t call it Fayettenam for no reason( hope I didn’t offend anyone lol, if I did I’m sorry... tomorrow)

If you do not mind the drive, Aberdeen and Southern Pines have nice housing. The shopping is also close. On post housing is not bad either. Linden Oaks is on post housing, but is a 20 minute drive from post. It is closer to Sanford and is quiet. I would not recommend moving to Fayetteville as some of the house are higher in rent and price to buy. Many owners want to pinch the military members for as much as possible on rent and sometimes when selling.

Im in Raeford myself, outside city limits. 20 minute ride to work. They dont take care of the area though. Trash is strewn all over the roads. Gets on my nerves personally. Pretty poor area as well, theres a couple homeless camps aroun where Im living that have popped up since I've moved here. Not too appealing. But as others said, stay away from fayetteville as well. Lots of nice, clean neighborhoods and communities to be had

Anderson Creek Club is a good play it’s about 17 miles from post. Lots of military there a lot of SF people most all the people in my area are SF. My home is on the market in Anderson Creek Club. Really nice quiet and neighborhood friendly. I live in Hope Mills because it was closer to my school that I teach JROTC at but we are moving to Oklahoma. If you are looking to rent the rental I’m in has an in ground pool very nice home lots of military here also. It’s will be available in July. When will you be here?

I’ve lived in Fayetteville, Raeford, Sanford, and now currently lillington. I will say Sanford was probably my favorite area as far as getting some land but still being close to things. If I was moving again I would look to southern pines or Fuquay-Varina

There is a wonderful community:
Carolina Club

It is, actually, in Moire County. Gated community with majority of Army families with children. It is between Whispering Pines and Southern Pines. I taught swim lessons there last summer. They have a pool, golf course, club house, etc.
REMAX is the realtor I used when I purchased my home.
lol lease be careful of living in Fayetteville. The crime rate is high and most military families do not live in Fayetteville.

To help narrow down the possible locations to live think about where you will work and the corresponding gates that are closest to your unit. Once you figure that out then start to look in areas near there. For instance, I work near the Pope Airfield side of post so I looked at housing within 20-30 minutes from the Manchester, Butner, and Randolph gates. I live in Anderson. Creek Crossing in Spring Lake and we have some car break in issues but nothing serious (it’s a newer subdivision so the gated community part is not completed). Anderson Creek Club is the older more established subdivision that is fully enclosed with gates and fencing. The Cameron/Sanford area near us is booming with development and small retail. Hope this helps.

I’ve lived in Fayetteville, Hope Mills, and now Raeford. I ended up buying a house in Raeford. It takes me about 10-15 min to get to the base but another 15 to get to where I work. So I’d say see which gate is closest to where you will be working to decide. I prefer Raeford, but I also really enjoyed Hope Mills.
