I am possibly headed to a warrior transition unit, what would that experience look like? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/i-am-possibly-headed-to-a-warrior-transition-unit-what-would-that-experience-look-like

I was recently diagnosed with schizophrenia, and I am possible going to a warrior transition unit. I am stationed in Camp Humphreys, Korea. I am most likely getting a medboard, apparently the reason I am going to the warrior transition unit is for an evaluation for the purpose of a disability rating. I am just wanting to know more information about the experience of a warrior transition unit. Pray, talk to Him. Jesus is a “freelance“ Saviour; you don’t have to be in a church. There’s just inner things in a person that no man can reach.
(Christ freed me up starting 40 yrs ago, it was a process, with mental and emotional issues and He healed me.) Your essential task is to go to your appointments. NCOs working at the unit will have eyes on your treatment plan. I noticed that few of the people who work in WTU/WTBs are jackasses. I can attribute it to poor leadership skills and for some reasons, people will treat those who are down like shit. I can say this about the WTUs at Ft Riley and Ft Campbell. Overall it was a good experience except for a jackass E-6 at Ft Riley and civilian clerk at Ft Campbell. They should be terminated.

Where is the location of your WTU? I had multiple Soldiers come through with schizophrenia while I commanded the WTU, they were are medically discharged. While at the SRU, your focus will be medical appointments. There will also be accountability and PT. All units have their own battle rhythm. You will be instructed to complete SFL-TAP in preparation for separation. Some units have partnerships with the community; trade/technical schools (using your GI or VOC REHAB) or activities (music group, hiking, daily living skills, etc.). The purpose is to set you up for success following military service for those who are being separated or to allow amply recovery for those who require more time to heal from injury than just a temporary profile.
