I cant really find alot of info on how grading and or how testing works. If anyone can tell me or give me an idea that would be awesome. Also, im active duty not reserve since this is a reserve base. I am reclassifying and will be attending 31B Military Police AIT at Fort Hunter Liggett, CA. What should I expect when I go? 2016-06-24T01:35:54-04:00 SPC Private RallyPoint Member 1659377

My school is only a month long, and there are two phases too it. Have your Training NCO look on the school's SH screen on ATRRS for requirements. Ensure you have a Security Clearance memo signed from your BDE or State Security Manager. Do NOT arrive there with a Security memo from your company or BN inless the school accepts it IAW their SH screen.
There is a PX that is hit and miss when stocked.
Visit the Mission if you're interested in history.
If you are flying in, make sure you fly into San Jose (SJC) airport as that is the closest largest airport though it is 2 - 2.5 hrs away.
Phase II you'll have to qualify on the M9 or you go home.
You will fam fire on the MK-19 which is always fun.
As a 19K, you should be proficient with the .50 cal which is good as you will be tested on that.
Unless they had a POI change, all testing is hands on-performance based.
Good luck and have fun. I am most certain that the grading will be IAW Army standards obtaining 70% on your test and receiving Go's on practicals and/or hands-on/evaluations. I'm surprised that you did not receive some form of welcome packet from the course that you are attending. Recommendations would be to contact the Course at Hunter Liggett or get with you BDE/BN Training NCO to help locate the answers you need. Just with all things in the Army and life, give 100%. Attention to detail and study. You can never fail by down that. I hope your career change is rewarding for you. I have been an MP (Active) and have loved every minute of it. The school is run by drill sergeants. They tried to be hardcore for the first week; after that they relaxed and treated us like fellow soldiers. They are able to shorten the school down to one month by eliminating most of the weapons training. You will however have to qualify on the M4 and M9.
The first two weeks is mostly classroom Law and Order training. The second two are field training; MOUNT, convoy, Shoot House, stuff like that. Since you're attending the condensed course a lot of information that is "nice to know" will be omitted and you will get the brass tax which is basically the hands on stuff which is actually fun and of course information that will keep you and those you protect safe. The course is not difficult as long as you follow your instructors instruction and stay out of trouble you will do fine. Don't forget to do your course critique at the end trust me that information is used to improve the course as well as other courses.
You should have already received your welcome letter with detailed information if not inbox me. Make sure ur ST score for ur asvab is at the minimum score or above for the mp school. If u follow instructor directions u will be ok. It's hot so during second phase (last 2 weeks) in the field hydrate nite before. Bring ur camel back. They should not have a problem with u wearing it. They tried to be tough for the first week, but since every one was prior service and half of us out ranked them, they relaxed and gave up trying to act hard. The first two weeks is Law and Order stuff. A lot of written tests and handcuff training. Handcuff training is fun, but it hurts. You have to qualify with the Beretta 9mm. You will not have any practice or training before the test. Most of the people who washed out did so because they couldn't shoot the pistol well enough. The last day of L&O training is hands on testing in a mock town. After that comes combat training. MOUNT training, convoy training, fam firing of several different weapon systems and an FTX. All in all, it was a blast and some of the best training I did in the Army. You should enjoy it.
