I am trying to go Active Duty from Reserve. I have submitted a conditional release, and it has been a year. Any ideas to get a unit release? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/i-am-trying-to-go-active-duty-from-reserve-i-have-submitted-a-conditional-release-and-it-has-been-a-year-any-ideas-to-get-a-unit-release

I am also interested in deployment. I have used MOBCOP and Personnel Force Innovation to my avail. I desperately need to be released from the Reserve. Fri, 02 Dec 2016 04:07:13 -0500 I am trying to go Active Duty from Reserve. The USAR has every right to hold you at least 2 years from completion of training. Lot of reasons behind that and trust me they make sense.
Now if there is a hardship you are facing like maybe you lost your civilian job or you are about to need more $$$ because a bundle of joy is on its way, these reasons may help speed up the process.
Talk to your chain of command and ask them where your DD 368 is. If they don't know submit a new one and then keep following up. Don't let the ball drop. Also, make sure you have a recruiter in your corner. I have, figuratively speaking, " stood on many desks" to keep many 368's from falling through cracks.
But no matter what, you take it up through your chain. Give them the chance to make things right. Every level of your chain of command has to endorse it. Many DD368 conditional releases get kicked back down the chain from USARC because they don't have all the required documents, including a DA 4187. That is how it falls through the cracks, if it even made it to HQ, USARC in the first place. My advice is to review the current USAR policy on conditional releases and resubmit IAW that policy. See your S-1 for that. That was the rule when the force was growing rapidly under Ronald Reagan and they needed people on Active Duty. I don't know what the rules are today for USAR but would not be surprised if they had a limit like that as the force shrinks. Each transfer to Active Duty from USAR or NG sometimes means that someone on Active Duty has to wait longer for promotion (depends on the rank of the Soldier making the transfer). I had better luck will in the reserves as a Recruiter because it was federally funded. If it has changed since I recruited, isn't it the first General in your unit that can authorize your conditional release?
