So I am running into a dilenma, I am reclassing I have till June for ets.My career counselor won't let me reclass without a clearance or favorable action. I contacted s2 they say they contacted CAS and are awaiting answer. S2 nco isn't answering my messages anymore. I need to know if I can reclass still? or if there is anything anyone can do to help since this reclass school is in December and I'm really trying to go combat now. It feels like no one is helping. Is there anything or anyone that can do anything to help me reclass? Is this a thing now where everyone needs a clearance to go to reclass school. I am in fort carson now. Need some help from anyone. Thanks

The below link states a Clearance is not required to reclass to 19D

SFC (Join to see) agreed. But, if a lack of clearance is the sole reason for being denied, then he has a case as his current MOS doesn't require one, either. But I do agree with your assessment

SFC (Join to see) - No he said he had some credit issues that stalled the investigation at the start. That will stall things because DCSA CAS will want all documentation to show someone is paying off their debt. Then said his last S2 stopped tracking it - and then he can't get a hold of his current S2.
The only way I could give him a straight answer is looking at his DISS but that requires a SSN. That's the only way to look someone up if they aren't under your SMO.
I read it again he said that he said in the OP: "My career counselor won't let me reclass without a clearance or favorable action." If it's not a requirement to reclass, then it's weird his career counselor is saying they won't submit the request until he has a favorable background check or clearance. Ultimately all he needs to just stay in the Army is a favorable investigation. So that part is weird if it's the career counselor holding things up.

Everyone has to be able to maintain a favorable background investigation just to be in the military because it's a national security position. So if you haven't had at least a T3 started that's probably the hold up.
I mean for people to go to reclass for 35series they just need interim SCI but have to have a T5 open with advanced NAC complete. You should be able to go with an interim if your T3 is open.
That's pretty messed up your S2 isn't answering even if CAS hasn't gotten back.

So the thing with that is my previous hold up was some credit history that I had when I first joined. That got cleared and when I was in Fort Hood I CAS still told me, I needed to have a reason to have a clearance and that they didn't think i needed one, that was back in 2020, nothing was done . I provided them with paper work and credit report and they still didn't do anything. I don't understand CAS and I'm thinking they are inept my s2 was trying to help me back in Fort Hood but cas eventually didn't do anything about it. They over clear too many people that dont need high clearance but others just end up like me struggling to explain why they need a clearance so now I'm here trying to get an answer from them again.

SGT (Join to see) - Things have changed since 2020 - and even then that's weird because the only thing they were super anal about is TS/SCI. They did an audit of everyone who held one to see who didn't need it. And they'll probably do another one because of the leaks with that Air Guard guy and other people.
A Secret isn't that hard to get so if that's all you need, that's weird that CAS was teling you that you didn't need it. Did you ever talk to an adjudicator or anyone at CAS? Or that's what your S2 said because I've never had CAS come back and say "that person doesn't need a clearance." They are the ones who deny or revoke a clearance - but usually over pretty serious stuff.
What's your current S2 doing about it? If you want to message you can. It just sounds weird.
Did your career counselor say that it's a requirement to have a favorable investigation to go to the class when reclassing? Like he can't just say that's what "he" wants. But everyone is supposed to maintaint a favorable background investigation regardless of MOS. So if you don't have one at all, that's a different story.
