I enlisted in the Army with a Bachelor’s degree. Am I eligible for civilian education points since I attained it before enlisting? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/i-enlisted-in-the-army-with-a-bachelor-s-degree-am-i-eligible-for-civilian-education-points-since-i-attained-it-before-enlisting

Thanks in advance. I have been getting conflicting answers from my S1 and education center. And yes I realize I could’ve gone straight to OCS. You'd be eligible for those points even if you got your degree after joining. Once your transcripts are turned in to education, they will update your ERB and submit a copy to your iPerms. Your promotion points for civilian education will then be pulled from your transcript or these sources. I've never heard of anyone looking at the year you graduated vs your BASD/PESD to try to reduce someone's points. That’s what I did back in the 1990s. The recruiter uploaded my transcripts to my enlistment packet and dare I say the rest is history.

Have you checked iPERMS to see if your college transcript is in there with your enlistment paperwork?

If it’s in there, then why does your S1 need your transcripts if your recruiter and/or MEPS already did it.

If I’m wrong in my assumption let me know.

Things may have changed in the past 25 years give or take a few. Your civilian education points count no matter when you got the degree.

I came in as a SPC in 2004 with a Bachelor's and my civilian ed was maxed out the entire time I've been in. Now I have two Master's along with that degree.

I don't know why you're S1 is giving conflicting answers. They just need to see your transcripts to add it to your ERB. That's it. My S1 gave me the points maxing out my PPW! You just don’t get the extra 10 points for degree completion until you do a masters.
