I finally added my child to my deers after trying for a year. How can I get BAH so I can get a house for her to come live with me?

You need to have 51% custody to qualify for BAH. Or you need to be required to pay more child support than your amount of BAH diff, in which case you qualify for BAH w/dependents rate. Yes your support must be a documented amount. You and the mother can agree on an amount, but that needs to be in a legally binding child support agreement.

SFC (Join to see) I’m not sure that 51% rule is entirely correct. I’d HIGHLY recommend either the DEERS office or your local legal (JAG) provide guidance here. BAH is tricky and I’ve seen a plenty of SMS get hemmed up for not using resources provided and going by barracks lawyers or uninformed ‘leaders’ guidance.

SFC (Join to see) that was the guidance given to me by finance and that I found in the finance regs. If you are 51% then you are the primary physical custody parent and automatically the caretaker. Some states use different terms like "shared parenting w/primary care" and don't use percentages, basically the main parent.

I am divorced with children, what is my BAH allowance?
It depends on whether or not you have legal and physical custody of your children, pay child support, and/or live in single-type Gov't quarters. If you have legal and physical custody of your children, then you are authorized BAH at the with-dependent rate if not assigned adequate family-type Gov't quarters. If your former spouse has custody and you are paying adequate child support (at least in an amount of your BAH-DIFF rate) you are authorized BAH at the with-dependent rate if not in Gov't quarters or BAH-DIFF if assigned single-type Gov't quarters.

SFC (Join to see) I'd also like to point out that DEERS and JAG are not the point of contact for determining BAH eligibility. Finance is the reference for BAH and the SM has already been to DEERS as part of enrolling his dependent.

CPL (Join to see) - Always get it in writing but it can be an allotment also or it could be when I was supporting my mother.
There will be an investigation by a military JAG Officer if its an allotment. I was Army but my mother lived near Eglin AFB in Florida so they handled it.
Best to get either a court order in order to get the back pay but you should be able to start BAH right now but it will have to go to the child's name though a responsible person. Get that in writing also.

I paid it through cash app . I got all the receipts. From my understanding it would be better if it were an allotment.
