I graduated AIT without getting orders. its been one week and I still don't have anything. is there anything I can do?

Have you spoken with your Cadre? I know back in the day there used to be a number you could call (it was automated and you had to plug in information) that would tell you if you were on assignment or not and where you were on assignment to. Approach your Cadre and ask them if they can get the number to HRC...or an email for a POC...at HRC that can answer this question for you

This happened to a few guys I went to AIT with, for most it gets fixed fairly quickly. Some who are waiting on a security clearance tend to wait a bit longer. Just be patient, keep doing PT, and keep studying. Your cadre will get it sorted.

This is not uncommon. It happens for a variety of reasons. When you were recruited you were slotted into a MOS that there was a growing need for, but not necessarily an open position for. Sometimes it has to do with your security clearance not being done so you have to sit at a post somewhere and cool your heels until it comes through. With COVID those wait times are going to be longer so delays will be longer.

Take this time to benefit yourself. You are AD and so getting paid and all your other benefits. The only thing you are not doing is your job you were trained for. Begin looking into and taking correspondence courses. These come to you in modules that you can do anywhere, anytime. Keep up with asking your Drills about your order status. At some point you will get orders or you will be transferred from training to permanent party while you wait. If the stay is going to be lengthy, ie a few months... start looking at college courses that you can take. Use the downtime towards future promotions. Make the most of the time you have, while you have it.

Maybe have an NCO go with you down to the post levy section. They may have a requirement(s) for your grade and MOS. If they do, and you like the location, volunteer, one less soldier they have to find. That how I went to RVN, had orders to Germany, and I was not a fan of cold weather. They canceled German orders and sent me to the 199th Inf Bde getting ready to go to RVN.
