PFC Private RallyPoint Member6355574<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>So I was in the reserves then went active then got out. Got promoted when I was in the reserves, kept all my supporting documents (DD4187) but my reserves unit has nothing. When I reclassed went active I got demoted in FLW although I had my 4187. Now when I got out “discharged” chortle after .. my DD214 has my actual rank in it. Now that I’m going back active what should I expect?I have a DD 4187 proving my promotion, my old reserve unit can’t find anything supporting it. What to expect?2020-09-29T10:02:14-04:00PFC Private RallyPoint Member6355574<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>So I was in the reserves then went active then got out. That grade is the most confusing one in the Army.Response by CW3 Kevin Storm made Sep 29 at 2020 10:05 AM2020-09-29T10:05:52-04:002020-09-29T10:05:52-04:00MSG Private RallyPoint Member6355694<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>The 4187 for CPL, unless for DA Select CPL, is a unit level 4187 and becomes moot when you transfer as it is just unit specific. You would revert back to your old rank, or laterally promoted to SPC. If you went Active Duty were reduced back to PFC, again, the unit level 4187 is null and void. What your rank was on your DD 214 upon discharge from Active Duty...that is your final rank. Now. If the DD 214 states CPL when you got out...kudos, but coming back in you will either be reduced to PFC again (based on the time frame in which you are coming back in based on manpower numbers), or you will be given SPC as it is easier to slot a SPC than it is a CPL.Response by MSG Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 29 at 2020 10:50 AM2020-09-29T10:50:43-04:002020-09-29T10:50:43-04:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member6355702<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Your DD 214 has your actual rank so that will be your rank when you go after.
