I have heard that I am to use black labels with gold lettering for my promotion packet. Is this accurate?

Depends on what your command specifies. Under my command we do not want to the Soldier to purchase tabs on their own so if the Company only has the colorful tabs we accept those with no problem. Follow up with your S1 personnel and see if their is a Junior Board SOP that specifically states what type of tabs are to be used.

If you are promotable why are making a promotion packet. Other than that like the others have stated you should see either your Orderly room or S-1 representative for clarification.

I am AGR and still need to place a packet in for promotion. I have not gone to a board which to my understanding will, if accepted by the board, I will be placed in P status. Am I incorrect?

SPC (Join to see) - Basically, if you have not gone to a board and have not been recommended for promotion, then you are not promotable (yet), and should not have the P next to your name.

I am active duty, and do not know the inner workings of the AGR, but how it works for ACTIVE is, you as a Soldier are deemed ready for the promotion board and I as your Leader will submit your promotion packet to the unit orderly room/S-1 your packet will be validated and eventually accepted normally by the 14th of the month. Then you will attend the promotion board, upon a successful attempt at the board you will be awarded your Promotable Status. I have never now will I ever make a Soldier use black labels with Gold lettering for anything. You are going up for Promotion based upon your abilities and your Potential to be a Leader not how well your labels look.

It will all depend on the instructions given in the MOI and what the President of the Board has dictated. Contact your S-1. Since they will be scrubbing the packet, they will know. Who is running the board? If anything.....I can contact your OPS SGM, SGM Ryan, and get the skinny for you.
