I have just been put on assignment to USA Signal School at Fort Gordon. Does anybody have insight on what I should expect at this assignment?

I'd suggest going to the following link, selecting your projected battalion within 15th Signal, and contacting some that are currently there. I won't assume 369 because you're 25B.

Last I heard, if you become an instructor.. they will make you get certified in a couple different things. I'm no longer in contact with my old signal school instructors, but they all seemed to enjoy it.

Whats your MOS? Makes a huge difference in what you're likely to be doing. I was there as a 74G and a 25B...both times student

If you have a UIC on your ERB you can look up the unit MTOE and the duty slots available for your MOS and grade on fmsweb.army.mil

I was stationed there from May 88 to Nov 90. I started out in C Co., 551st Sig BN and then moved to D-442. I had fun there and even though there was some higher than normal BS for permanent party, I still enjoyed my time.

You will probably go to the 551st and that's where all the 25B Instructors go. Dixon Hall is where you will be teaching. I was just down there last week to talk to the Branch Chief (civilian GS-15), who is a retired NCO and a very good friend of mine, and he told me what his forecast was going to be at the school house in 2017. They are cutting some civilian instructors and beefing it up with military. You have every certification available at your finger tips to include the practice ones. He'The Branch Chief lets me borrow books for CISCO to help me through my college classes pertaining to Networking, take practice exams and other things. It is really a family oriented work environment between the civilians and military instructors. It can be frustrating at times because you're dealing with kids (my opinion) but it's a good place to be. Expect some shift work ESPECIALLY if you end up in the NCO Academy and that's a lot of work but wither way it is very rewarding. I retired from the Ordnance School on Gordon almost 7 yrs ago and I am expecting to work at the 25B school sometime in 2017 or possibly the Academy. Good Luck!!

I was at Ft. Gordon back in the early 70's for my 31L2T MOS, so I only can imagine how much has changed in all these years. I really enjoyed the catfish fries that many of the black churches in Augusta had and the people were welcoming and awesome. Good luck with the assignment.

I was there in the late 50's. A lot will have changed by now. had the privilege of crawling across a parade field, because a hurricane hit while we were in class. We thought it was cool until we saw stuff flying over our heads. Good luck to you. It is a great place for learning.

I was there early 80's for ait, late 80's for obc, bring your golf clubs. Nice base, Augusta wasn't much of an army town when I was there.

Use the current advice of SSG Duane Tyler I know him personally, he is a good guy with lots of connections at Fort Gordon. I was stationed at Fort Gordon Wounded Warrior Battalion from 2013-2014 the location is good, and they were just starting beefing up security because they had been selected to be the next home for Cyber Command as I was PCS in October 2014.

Get connected with American Legion Post 337 and ask for Mrs. Tonya Price who is a retired SFC who was station at Fort Gordon but now she and her military family lives their.

Depending where you get out it can be highly demotivating and classes take forever to start. I was there 6 months doing stupid details before classes actually started

When I was there, if there was a cloud in the sky, the phones would not work. We also had floppy disks and hard drives were 10mb's or less.

I just left there last month after completing SLC. Not sure if you are going as a student, if you are make sure you have a car. There are lots of things to do there. Make sure you visit the MWR at Pointe West.
