We have always lived off post, but the BAH for Sierra Vista is aweful and doesn’t at all reflect the market there. On post is the way to go for living, in my opinion.

I actually suspect rent prices will drop at some point. When I PCSed from Huachuca earlier this year the chamber of commerce was trying to figure out a way to stop the damage caused by military fleeing SV to live on post. The problem was made even larger when Huachuca opened housing to DACs and I think some contractors.

The best is On post Housing, Off post is too expensive.

First and foremost. You're going to a TRADOC post. So you have the opportunity to go school, have your wife go back to school or you two can go and do both. You have a lot of power now because you now can plan your life for the next 3 years. Think about that

School is definitely a must. Eager to get done with it.
Coming from a tradoc post to another one may help the transition.
Thank you for the heads up

Well then you already know how it's going to work being a TRADOC post already. Everything stops 1700. Huachuca is fairly a "quiet" post. You'll hear the occassional F-16 flying with the air field right there but that's it. On post housing is fairly new as well so you won't be given something old and run down

Tell the platoon sergeants and 10 level and NCOA instructors the day ends at 1700. Prepare for combatives to be practiced on you.

Seeing as how he's supply, your comment is much more valid. I shouldn't have assumed he was MI. My bad.

Special education, medical etc. Quaretrs
Are available on post and are relatively very new. Your Children like will attend school ON POST. Both schools are. Very good. Sierra Vista has is a relatively small town, 45000. Tucson is 70 miles away. The weather is mild for AZ because of its 5000 foot elevation. I have lost bed here on and off since 86. Bought a home and free roots. Cost of lining is very reasonable.
