I have orders now to korea but i dont want to go. My previous assignment to germany has been cancelled because of EFMP.

Now i have some army friends who came from germany and they said "yes" they have facility there.  So i was mislead?

Not wanting to go isn't a good enough reason not to go. What is it that you are asking? Was the EFMP issue in Germany related to a Family member? If so, going to Korea isn't the same thing, you can go without your Family.

I've actualy had the same thing happen to me. My kicker is the AF was looking to send me to Germany on an unaccompanied long tour (2 yrs) based on my selection for the assignment as a "most eligible" non-vol and the family being denied based on non-availablity of services. I fought hard not to go on a 2 yr unaccompanied and was given a 1 yr to Korea so I can "serve my share of overseas tours" (I've served 2 assignments overseas not including deployments). As I'm sure you don't want to go there are far worse alternatives out there. You have to look at all your options and try to put you and your family in the best position for success. I've learned from experience that some bases overseas may have services available but limit the members based on how many people they can support with those services. I understand the hardships of going anywhere without your family.

Again, I've learned from experience that some bases overseas may have facilities and/or services available but limit the members based on how many people they can support with those services. Germany has a ton of facilities and services but they also have a ton of personnel who are using them as well. Just because they have the facilities and/or services doesn't mean you'll have access to them. I was told that services were available here at Langley when I arrived but it took 3 years to access those services.

I am about to PCS to Germany and the EFMP screening was one of my biggest concerns. My oldest daughter has some medical issues that have never required EFMP here in CONUS, but they made us enroll her to ensure there was adequate medical care in Germany. When I went for my levy brief, the word I got was that I would get my orders as soon as everything came back from the EFMP and command sponsorship was approved in Germany. I was nervous about this because they told me that with command sponsorship, my tour would be 36 months, but without, I would have to go for 24 months!!! I would much rather go to whatever unit is getting on the bird for deployment because that wouldn't be nearly as much time away from my family!

Luckily, I was approved and we will be heading there as a family.
