READ YOUR ORDERS. You will be amazed at how much you can learn by just doing this simple thing. As a PVT, you may or may not be authorized to ship your vehicle. Refer back to my first three words of this post

SGM Erik Marquez - Good morning SGM, yes I have seen plenty of instances of PVT's going to their first duty station that were not authorized shipment of a POV, especially overseas. I've also seen some that were authorized. Most of those were married that were able to ship their Vehicles. None of us know his status so that's why I advised the PVT to read his orders thoroughly. He may be entitled to get paid the mileage to drive his vehicle. Ive never been stationed in Alaska, but I do know tons of people that drove up there. I'm guessing it is considered OCONUS like Hawaii is, so if its in his orders to be able to ship it, then he will be good. That's the only point I was trying to make.
