Is I & I Duty something that is attainable coming off of the MSG Program? If so, how would I communicate that to my monitor?

Good morning Ladies & Gentlemen,
I am getting promoted to SSgt in January and am interested in I & I Duty, is this something that is attainable coming off of the MSG Program, if so, I am already in contact with my monitor, how would I communicate that to him?

SSgt Private RallyPoint Member Things may have changed since I was on active duty a half century ago but back in the day when they did your fitness reports you could select three MCC (Monitor Command Codes) as duty stations you would like to be stationed at. All that is is a wish list and the Corps will need you the most not so much as where you would like to be. The only other alternative I can think of is an AA (Administrative Action) Form via the chain of command to the Commandant of the Marine Corps. I wish you luck in obtaining your desired duty station.

It does not appear coming from MSG duty would be disqualifying - "In addition every Marine can be screened for an Independent Duty as well, due to the continuing need for qualified Marines to serve in these types of duty."

Suggest you dig into MCO P1326.6D - SDAMAN (linked) If the link does not work, look up the MCO. It will have all the information you need.

It’s possible but you will need to speak to your monitor about it. Sometimes your MOS will play a factor. I’d have your Regional 1st Sgt make a call on your behalf as well. Coming off the program my 1st Sgt played a big role hooking me up with the PCS destination I wanted

attainable possible, but coming off MSG your monitor and you should be considering MOS credibility. You are going to want to be doing something in your ocupational field. If you can find an I&I position that requires your job, it would put you in the best position for the future.

Not a good idea to take back to back tours outside the FMF.
