After having just enlisted in the DEP as a 35G, how can I get clarification on whether or not I'll be deployed?

I just enlisted in the DEP as a 35G and I've heard conflicting information on whether I'll be deployed or not. Can anyone clarify for me?

I think I would worry about basic and your school first before being deployed.

Crawl, walk, run. You need to learn to crawl first. Forget about deployment and focus on getting through Basic and your schooling. Deployment depends on situations beyond control. Some soldiers will never deploy. You do what you're told, when you're told and how you're told.

The only way to know if you'll be deployed is to get deployment orders. Up until then the answer is always "maybe."

35G is not a "high deployment" MOS. Of course, these days very few are. You are LIKELY (as in not guaranteed) to only deploy if the unit you are assigned to deploys. To my knowledge, 35G is primarily a tactical MOS, especially at skill level 1 (private - specialist). That means you are likely to go to a tactical unit after AIT. The tactical units are generally the ones that deploy, but the Army deployment level is relatively low right now, so even if you are in a tactical unit, there is still a relatively low probability of deployment. But it could happen. And for some it WILL happen.

The flip side of tactical is strategic. It is possible you could be sent to a strategic assignment. These units rarely, if ever, deploy as a unit. However they do occasionally deploy individuals from the unit to augment. Your probability of deploying from there is lower, but still not none.

There is literally no way to know whether or not you will deploy until the orders come down.

Unless you are IRR you would first be assigned to a unit and should they deploy and or another unit which requires individual augmentees with your specialty is deployed.

You would also have to attend the joint training exercises at your grade. You can’t deploy from specialty training to War, or other.

I promise you that the average Soldier who begs to deploy is often unhappy with their deployment circumstance.

Well you will have your hands full in basic You will be not only physicality tested, but emotionally and mentally. tetes also. You are learning how to be soldier in basic, how to think like one, and act like one.

MOS's don't get deployed. Units get deployed. You won't know if and when you'll be deployed until you know where you are being assigned. You are putting the wagon way in front of the horse on this. Focus on your entry level training first. You need to get through all that before you get assigned to a unit. Take it one step at a time and put the crystal ball away
