I just found out I got orders for Kuwait next fall, I'm wondering what a 31B would be doing in Arifjan?! Thanks for the feedback.

My first reaction is some type of base security, which can take many forms but is very important any way it comes. Will do more research for you! Best of luck and take care.

CPT Aaron Kletzing is correct. There is a small MP force there serving in a base security capacity. I was there in 2011-12 and they worked with full time staff and contractors. Not much going on. Bring a good book.

SFC Private RallyPoint Member, What unit are you going with and how will you be task-organized? Answers to these questions should provide you with some basics as to what your mission will be in country. At Arifjan, it is possible that an MP unit could be utilized for Law & Order, Customs, Installation Security, and training of coalition partner civilian police forces. Any one of these missions or a combination of them may be a part of what you will be doing at Arifjan. Again, your task org and METL that you begin to train up with will provide the answers to these questions for you real soon!

I am currently deployed in Camp Arifjan, Kuwait well the MP's here are like back in Garrison they do base security, enforce traffic laws, and maybe customs. I hope that helps. Good luck!

I spent six months in Arifjan in late 2013 thru early 2014. And yes they have MPs on the base. It's a large base with a ton of vehicle activity. A lot of transient military, DoD civilians and contractors go thru Arifjan. I can think of worse assignments, but then again we can all think of better ones! The DFACs are adequate and the gym is large and not run down. They even have an outdoor swimming pool there. Best of luck with your assignment and thank you for your service.

What will you be doing in Kuwait? Well, once summer hits, you will be sweating your testicles off! Went through there during R&R in August and it was 140 degrees and humid! I couldn't get out of there fast enough! I heard that permanent party folks get to go into town...

Mostly patrolling the base in the police cars or trucks. If you are RA you will most likely be working out of the PMO.

I can't really comment on what your duties will be but I have been to Camp Arifjan a couple of times. It reminded me of a CONUS Air Force Base. If I remember right they even have a turf soccer field there. You should have a relatively easy deployment. As others have said, I would imagine you'll have a force protection or security role of some sort. You may also end up being involved in the port near there.

When I was there I was on work details cleaning equipment to be returned stateside. It is mostly the waypoint for equipment we use for deployments

Most the guys that I know who have gone there have been doing Customs and also traditional patrol ling and escorts. They actually have some nice chargers there to patrol in.

No matter what you MOS, the MAIN thing you'll be doing is BEING HOT. Other than that, I seem to remember MP's doing the same things they would do in any garrison back stateside. The gates are guarded by contractors and the MP's patrolled the streets. Take all this with a grain of salt (other than the HOT part) as I was there in 2006-07 and I wasn't an MP.

I was in 3rd mp Co, 3rd ID, we were notified and gone within a week, most of DIV, upon ramping up to come home, we moved from the sand to Doha, had to fix vehicles to turn in, also was a customs inspection guy, our team had to watch every truck, tank etc, getting washed by their units, and give pointers on what needed more cleaning. M1's swapping engines, then one by one they would line up to be inspected. This was an all day event for many many days, oh and the duffle bags, you pack well so everything fits and when the DIV troops came into the wearhouse
