I just got 30 points for an up vote. Is this good news?

I feel kind of like Alice in Wonderland when she was shrinking. I understand that receiving 30 points for an up vote means I have 2,000 up votes so I guess that it good. However diminishing returns rarely seems like a positive development :-)
I joined RallyPoint in March 2015 and just when I got used to 50 points for an up vote, it went down to 40. First I thought I had done something wrong and must have "earned" a down vote. But I learned that 50 points per vote is allotted up til 1,000 up votes; then 40 per vote is allotted up till 2,000, from 2,000 to infinity the allotment is 30 points.
My goal is to get all of my friends and contacts to the point that you like I "earn" 30 points per up vote :-)

The point system doesn't matter to me. I just like to read other people's views with a shared background and life experiences. The real points are the diverse responses and contacts made here.

LTC Stephen F., I noticed that too when I started getting 30 points per up vote. Like you at first I thought I did something wrong but I looked up how Influence Points are given and learned the answer was actually a good thing for me.
At the end of the day, I don't really care about Influence Points. My biggest gripe is down votes. I think the RP programmers/website designers should change it so that a response is mandatory (versus it being optional now) whenever one hits that down vote icon.

So far I have not received any down votes PO1 John Miller. Every day I ask the Lord to guide me and I try to treat each person with respect in person in in my responses.
I am much less interested in points than in communicating with people who have common interests. Since points are awarded based on responses, that bis one way I find out who cares about the things I care about.
