I replied with this...

I’ve heard this idea before.  I don’t agree.  Here’s why...

Police are trained to use an escalating scale of response to violence and receive training on when and how much.  Voice, baton, pepper spray, taser, bullet, etc.
Soldiers are basically trained in one type of violence.  Extreme.  It is either kill or be killed.
In a combat zone Soldiers trust the Soldiers standing next to them.  They have to, otherwise no one is watching out for the enemy.
If Soldiers are armed all the time, they are watching for one of their battle buddies to attack them.  Trust is destroyed and EVERYONE is the enemy.
Police that respond will not be able to determine who the shooter is because everyone will be shooting.
Where will all of the bullets go?  The situation will be very chaotic and once one shot is fired, everyone will pull and shoot, and shoot, and shoot.
I’ve been threatened by two Soldiers.  Both were death threats and if the Soldiers had been armed I would be dead along with several other Soldiers.

I’ve also been to other countries that do have their military carry a LOCKED and LOADED weapon all the time.  Those countries are fighting a daily battle against gangs, cartels, and insurgents that is baffling and disturbing.  I thank God that we don’t have that problem here.

I have a Concealed Weapon Permit and I also live off-post. When I am out and about doing errands I have my pistol with me and my CWP. Now, if I wanted to head on-post I would have to turn back around, head home and put my pistol up. The reason for that is, if you are not going to the POW range on-post, or heading to your on-post residence you may not have a weapon in your vehicle. You also must have it registered with Provost Marshall, which I have done (since I like to hunt). I have taken concealed weapons classes and defensive pistol course as well. I think if we have the training and keep up with it, we should be able to carry on a military installation. Just wondering what your thoughts are? <br>
