I'm 39, have a BA in Elm Ed, and 8 years of active duty time. I have several people trying to convince me to go G2G. Thoughts?

Why wouldn't you just go OCS? I think you're too old for Green to Gold or OCS though. You can try for a waiver but for G2G you have to be 30 or under by the time of projected graduation. For OCS 19-32 years old. There are waivers (of course as there is for usually anything). I would think though with already having a degree that if you were to go officer you'd go OCS. Green to Gold seems to be if you don't have a degree yet.

I came in with a Bachelor's. I got my Master's last year. Before I had that I had officers telling me to go OCS. I had a company commander tell me I was wasting my talents as enlisted. I said that might be the first time anyone offended me sir. I have no desire to join the dark side lol. I told him that and that he couldn't get me to drink the Koolaid. He said "But we have cookies too."

It's kind of up to you and your thoughts on your career.

I went mustang and never regretted it, but obviously you know that being a butter bar will be very different than being an NCO. But if you feel you have the chops, go for it...

I made the jump last fall, just before I turned 35. I'm happy with my choice, although there are many days I wish I was an NCO again (payday isn't one of those days). Not sure if the age will be an issue or not. I direct commissioned so I was able to bypass a lot of the normal commissioning red tape.
