I’m about to be a 15r and start my army career this week. Anybody have any details on the odds of being stationed in Hawaii or Alaska?

Dream jobs are hard to probablize. However, if I was going to dream then, why not Wheeler Army Air Field in Heleamano Military Reservation, across from Kunia Pineapple Fields. Dream big Private and show your knowledge that the Army has no choice but to send you there. LoL

The odds are very good if you stay in long enough to reenlist for Hawaii you will get it about 4-5 years from now. Not Alaska though. My brigade, 16 CAB is in Alaska and we have our Chinooks up there, pretty sure there are no Apache in that battalion.

Immediately contact your branch manager. They love when brand new Soldiers contact them. It shows you have tenacity! Don’t ask for those locations, TELL them that’s where they will send you. Everything will be good.

I’m not sure if the odds, but in 2008, during the surge, I graduated I think with 80 or less people from the HUMINT course. Out of that 80 only 4-5 of us ended up in Hawaii, me being one of them.

I’m not sure of the odds but what I do have to say is no matter where you go, they all have advantages just make the most of it and try to learn as much as possible. Be like a sponge.

Pretty slim, based on unit manning and rotation. People that like a place tend to try and stay.
