Sam Houston, and San Antonio is a great city. Or at least in the 60's it was. I was at Ft. Sam in the late 80's. and there is alot to do in San Antonio. The Riverwalk is great for eating and shopping for the wives. And there is The Alamo, and very even temperate. It isn't that far to Dallas, Austin, or Houston. IMHO it is a great place, but maybe possibly a bit political.Response by SGT Kenneth Martin made Jan 5 at 2021 5:39 PM2021-01-05T17:39:31-05:002021-01-05T17:39:31-05:00SFC Christopher Taggart6634878<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Times have sure changed...as a Staff Sergeant, you basically are subjected to the "needs" of Army and you go where your MOS is needed, and not because your family wants to go to Hawaii on the Army's dime...warm-weather assignments?...the Middle-East (sarcasm) still has plenty of slots available, but they're unaccompanied tours.Response by SFC Christopher Taggart made Jan 5 at 2021 6:04 PM2021-01-05T18:04:50-05:002021-01-05T18:04:50-05:00SGT Russell Wickham6634906<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Don't rule out Ft.
