Mostly warm weather year around. But it's part of the "big 3" (Fort Hood, Fort Riley, and Fort Stewart). Sam Houston, and San Antonio is a great city. Or at least in the 60's it was. I was at Ft. Sam in the late 80's. and there is alot to do in San Antonio. The Riverwalk is great for eating and shopping for the wives. And there is The Alamo, and very even temperate. It isn't that far to Dallas, Austin, or Houston. IMHO it is a great place, but maybe possibly a bit political.
