I'm an E-5 in the reserves graduating college with a degree in Psychology, and plan on becoming an officer. What are my first priorities?

SGT Private RallyPoint Member You need to talk to your local 79V Army Reserve Career Counselor. Tell them you want to become an officer and would like to see the OANCO, Officer Accessions NCO, They are the one that will assist you in making sure your packet is squared away for the next board. If you do not have contact with a Career Counselor send me a PM with your unit and location and I can look it up the name and number of the Career Counselor assigned to you unit when I get back in the office next week.

SGT I would look at OCS it is pretty fast not real comfortable but a good learning experience, I am an OCS grad.

Sgt Hill, what is your GPA? What is your GT score? I think OCS would be the correct route for now. As far as AMEDD goes if you are going that route in your current degree and are considering becoming a psychologist you will need to be in your doctoral program already. Hope this helps. First and foremost get out of the army and direct your military career to where the craziest sons of guns are- The Beloved USMC! We cant stop killing the enemy or eating crayons, and to make matters worse they pay us AND feed us to do it!! So your college degree would be beneficial. Semper FI and good luck!
P.S. to be realistic, our headshrinkers our done by those guys who give us a ride sometimes in their luxury built troop carriers. If we are ordered to go see that officer, its usually good SOP to have two-three MPs escort said Marine. Especially if they are out of crayons!!! OOOOHRRRRRAAH, KILL!

The easiest priority is physical fitness. Don't just pass the PT scores. Max them out. As a future leader, you don't want your troops out performing you unless you have a bad day.
