Yes! The phrase Champ at the Bit is an actual phrase; to be mistaken with Chomp at the Bit is common. So how fun is hearing misstated phrases and words? Note some we came up with at work: expresso (in other words, espresso); pacifically (or specifically); one of my personal favorites: near miss (as opposed to A HIT!)...
Give it a try, what are some you've heard and simply can't stand? Not to worry, "I could care less" (but really, I care).
(Breath of knowledge, exspecially, irregardlessly; same difference; acrosst...)

I wonder, would I get in trouble for handing this out to my honors literature students?

Why do so many people say "Sergeant Majors" instead of Sergeants Major? The suffix should be on the word Sergeant. Other sayings that make me laugh are "for all intensive purposes" (for all intents and purposes) and "axe" (ask).
I'm guilty, too. I often say "good" instead of "well", and "on accident" instead of "by accident." I know better, but I prefer to say things my own way unless I'm in a formal setting.

I hate it when people use "axe" instead of "ask". Also learn the difference between figuratively vs. literally. Two totally different words.
Worst of all is "I could care less" it is "I couldn't care less".

Here's another one that annoys me....more overused than misstated:
Literally. I literally hate it when someone literally inserts the word literally into every descriptive sentence.
You really don't have to differentiate between whether you're speaking literally or figuratively. People usually just know.

I literally want to throatpunch people. I don't literally do it, but I literally *want* to do it. :)
"Ermergerd, I like, literally just died. Like, literally." :\
