I'm deploying to Kuwait next summer but I have braces for my teeth. Is this a problem?

Only if your unit will not have a dentist or have access to one! Have you spoken with your dental clinic about this? They may recommend (I've seen this happen before) that you get your braces removed for the length of your deployment if you won't have access to proper care while in theater.

Yeah, I would check and see if they have a dentist over there. Better to find out now and voice your concerns.

If your braces do not make you a DENTAL CAT 4, then you can go. That being said, if you have not gone through a Medical SRP yet, then that would be the time to bring that up.

I know that at Cp Arifjan they have a dental clinic so if you are based there you should be good to go; I believe that Cp Buehring also has one so as long as you are good to go at your SRP you should be straight.

Nope it is not, There is a great hospital at AJ so you will be fine just make sure to make arrangements with the medics a your home station

"Deploying" to Kuwait is the problem. If you get AJ you'll be ok. Ali has a great set up, it's Air Force so there's a great gym, great food and poker. Buehring will make you question every life choice you've ever made.

we had several people deploy with my unit to Kuwait. CP Buehring had a dental clinic and was able to help them with there issues. but anything like removing or serious issues you where sent to AJ. Also CAT IV was taken care of at AJ. you should have no issues. goodluck and enjoy the gym and the heat.

It could be. Kuwait is an austere environment. Maintenance can be difficult. You may request a CENTCOM waiver dependent upon your individual situation.

No it shouldn't be. Just bring what you need to maintain cleanliness etc. running a lot you will eT some dirt but

I deployed in 2005 and was at Camp Doha mostly they did cleanings of all things even at Doha. But my 1SG actually took me out to Kuwait City to get some work done. Don't know how he managed it but it's possible.

Get all your dental needs done before leaving or you'll have to see a Kuwaiti dentist who in my opinion looks for ways to make our people suffer. One of our soldiers nearly died because they nicked a vein and tried to stitch it up.
