What can I expect and what do they have available for wounded warriors? 2018-05-13T09:43:49-04:00 SGT Private RallyPoint Member 3624003

I'm going to be stationed at Fort Belvoir at the WTU. Better than at Walter Reed. You will enjoy it all except the commute. If you can get on post it would be sooo good. New housing available. Plenty of MWR opportunities. Hunting on base, Bow, but its not so bad. You can decide what best fits your lifestyle and personal interests and go from there.

It is very expensive to be in the area though. Fight for on post Housing, it will save you hours a week in driving and the cost of essentials (Gas etc). There are some very nice new housing options on the post and it has come a long way since I was there in 93! It’s a love or hate kind of place. For many it’s about staying positive and leveraging opportunities. No post is perfect, find the good in it and try to minimize the bad. Stay away from negative folks and have some fun at one of the best kept secrets of the US Army-FortBelvior is pretty nice! You will be assigned to a PEBLO and a VA Rep to get your military and VA percentages. Somethings to consider:

- You can appeal the military and VA percentages. Talk to the PEBLO and VA Rep for this endeavor. It is not hard, just talk to them.
- SS is tied into the process to allocate SSDI to SMs quickly if you are qualified. The start date is retroactive to the date the military claimed you could not perform your job.
- Know what your profile says. It will decide what kind of activities you can physically perform for PT and the APFT.
- An objective of a WTU is accountability, hence, you will probably have morning and afternoon formations.
- Keep your anger in check. For some reason WTU's employ folks who can be rude and condescending. I experienced that at Ft Campbell and Ft Riley.

I wish you and your family the best of luck!
