I’m going to Kuwait in July for 9 months. Any suggestions on what to bring besides my issued gear?

When I was told I would be deploying I didn't think they had internet. Kuwait for sure has decent internet you have to pay for. I would bring a decent laptop, cac card reader, and hard drive with 200+ movies. I was able to get almost 5 college classes while down here since operations are very slow. I watch netflix/movies at night to past the time. I would pack as light as possible.

Lol I’m going there too but a laptop computer, headphones, iPod and a game system to keep you entertain. Also so workout gloves to stay working out!

Laptop for e-mail, movies, music and internet will become your best friend. Twin sheets and a pillowcase for your bunk (our supply people never bothered to provide them). Extra soap and razor blades because the PX probably won't have your favorites. Sturdy shower shoes or beachcombers for those long walks to the latrine in the middle of the night (and a couple of good flashlights). Good luck!

Bring about 150 in cash. They have yard sale pages on Facebook for your location (they are members only group so put a request in now because they may not approve you right away). Soldiers from the unit you are replacing will be selling things and will want cash since they're going back to the states. Bring a computer and hardrive. Civilian clothes.

Well that would depend on where you are going, Arifjan is like a garrison environment, decent internet, food is okay, they have a pool, plenty of shops etc so you can buy anything within reason. Camp Virginia is a bit more primitive but they still have just about anything you need just more dirt to go with it.

We have a PX here so you do not need to buy anything from the states. They sell everything, clothes, games, TVs, Bikes, PT Uniforms, Movies. Also join the facebook pages of the camp craigslist. You can get stuff cheap from people who you will be replacing. Also, thereis internet in the barracks. Pay a monthly charge for diffrent speeds. Also, get your cell phone unlocked from your carrier, just take your orders, and when you get here, get a Sim Card for your phone, or you can get a puck. (Mobile Wifi to carry around) and download Voxer, your gonna need it.

If you are bringing personal electronics, you will want a locking case that is water tight to store them in. the fine dust gets into every thing. Pelican Cases are pricey and heavy but a worth while investment. Also many can be secured with a padlock and if you have a computer locking cable/security kit that is helpful as well.

Toilet paper, wet wipes, Apple Ipod (full of favorite music/means of recharging), chap stick, sun block, any tools that you might need but not issued (Gerber, Alligator socket wrench, wire cutters, electrical tape, duck tape, mallet, 550 cord 100 yards)

Besides some of the items that have been mentioned, i would say a good pillow and sheets. You can throw them away once you are ready to redeploy home. If you are going during the cold months, then maybe a good blanket and plenty of toilet articles in addition to what has been recommended. Good luck and stay safe.

My all time best ideas were
-Blankets and a pillow from home.
-2 X 2terrabite HDD’s one for work and othe other for movies.
-Breadmaker and mixes. (Trust me...)

PV2 Private RallyPoint Member Sounds Like Fun, Never been Ashore in Kuwait, I've been off the Coast. Now Manama Bahrain was OK and Dubai was OK. I don't think they allow drinking in Kuwait so Hopefully they will allow some R/R in Dubai or Manama.
