I'm having trouble with a MEPS to MEPS transfer and it is my last hurdle to enlist in the Marine Corps. Does anybody know how long it takes?

I was released fromthe National Guard to the IRR and I have all of my paperwork. All I need now is the MEPS to MEPS transfer but Fort Jackson isn't really cooperating. Anybody know how to speed this up or what I can do?

Nothing you can do. That is a issue between the files room of both MEPS and the USMail as they still snail mail the packets. Your MEOS liaison should be the POC for this and can go to the MEPS NCOIC for assistance.

It can take weeks, if not months.

Your Recruiter is feeling a lot more pressure to get it done. But it simply takes time. It's not a matter of "not cooperating", MEPS deal with thousands of records at a time, you're no more of a priority than anyone else. Be patient.

I would recommend that you use your time to educate others who might fall into this situation in the future. When I was a recruiter it was the biggest pain in the butt to transfer Reserve or National Guard to active duty. As a warrior, indecision kills on th battlefield, and in this case slows life forfillment. Talk to others (high school students) who are considering the active duty alternatives and help them better understand that big picture. Semper Fi!!!

MEPS to MEPS actions are a pain in the butt. Just keep in touch with your recruiter. He wants that packet as bad as you do...promise! He will likely be keeping in touch with the MEPS and the second he gets confirmation it has arrived you will be scheduled for your next adventure. Do NOT take it upon yourself to contact the MEPS on either end. That is only liable to piss someone off and you will be waiting just a bit longer.

Not much you can do, unless you have copies of all your records to give to the new MEPS location.
When I was in the process to get a medical waiver, I began at Miami FL MEPS and then moved north to NC, where I was processing at Raleigh NC MEPS. When my (NC) recruiter requested my records from the Miami MEPS, they first refused to send the records, but then after threatening to move this up the CoC, they claimed the records were "lost." Luckily, I had all of my medical records burned on a CD, a copy of which I gave to my NC recruiter, and he used those to kickstart the process. I don't know if Miami MEPS ever sent my records. Don't really care at this point-- I did 10+ years active, and am currently in the Reserve.
