I'm heading to Ansbach very soon. Anyone stationed there currently?

You'll want to ship your car asap. The first 2 weeks you are there you will go to cultural class. You will learn enough to order food and get around. You will go to lunch on the economy and tour the palace. Katterbach is the main installation. However, it's broken up into 4 areas, finance, postal, medics, and dental all lived on Barton barracks, and had to drive or take the shuttle to Katterbach (across town) they are nice rooms with a hack and Jill bathroom and a kitchenette and a main kitchen on each floor. We got separate rats as there isn't a dfac on Barton barracks. The only thing there is 1 barracks building, the finance office (for finance soldiers), car inspection and registration. Across the street is family housing, behavioral health and the library. The other installation is just barracks. Katterbach has all the facilities. It's about 2 miles radius, mostly (helicopter/chinooks) units.
They have many trips you can take in a tour group with other service members. (Very well worth it and affordable)
When I was there you got a 3 day weekend every month, that was garrison policy. The px is very small. I enjoyed shopping at the local grocery stores. Most stores are closed on Sunday.
I'm not sure what you wanted to know, but I hope this is a start. Have lots of fun and see as much as you can.

Try to avoid getting a contract cell phone over there. I did the prepaid and the landline to call the states super cheap. $30 a month. The contracts they will take advantage of the soldiers and cause you financial hardship. We saw it everyday.
