I'm heading to BAC. Does anyone have any good suggestions on boots that are comfortable to run in, yet supportive enough for a landing?

MAJ (Join to see) Sir I think you will find your options are very limited, as in issue only..
Check the ATRRS page for BAC, and or call the school house.. but unless things have drastically changed since Dec 2013, you will not be wearing a boot style and type not issued to the masses

Oh and you're not really "running" in boots... during the training day you will be running from station to station, barracks to chow, ect in an "Airborne" shuffle. You will do some group movements at a double time in boots as well... but "running" is done in appropriate PT gear.. be it ACU and running shoes, or APFU complete....and again, unless the POI has changed since Dec 2013

Roger SGM, figure that much, just not done a lot of the shuffle in boots in a while and was hoping the answer wasn't "issued only," but so be it. Thanks for the feedback.

Sir, the Cadet has a good suggestion, stay with issue for now. The best piece of advice for your landings may sound corny and half ass'd but "KEEP YOUR FEET AND KNEE'S TOGETHER" . I stopped jumping after 253 and the only part of me that hurts less is my feet and knee's. The rest of your PLF you will have to learn by trial and error. Spending hard earned money on the latest high speed boots at jump school inst a needed thing at this time.

Heard that from everyone, 1SG, already drilled in my brain. Got it on best focus on effort, PLFs I heard are a joy!

MAJ (Join to see) - Sir, at school you do it there way in the real world you hit like a sack of shite. The important thing at school is DON'T get hurt even if you do, foot stomp, foot stomp. No sprains, twist of bruises that will keep you from pinning in three weeks. watch out for the usual BF who will do a sky shark on you and stay below the radar with the black hats and you will do fine. If you are assigned to a unit on status then that is where the fun begins :)

PLF at Benning = FNAH in real life.
MAJ (Join to see) BAC is about getting though unhurt, start and finish same group. Go along to get along, check your rank and personality at the door.
Teamwork is good, but it takes a bit of individual strength for a NCO or officer to get through a course designed to teach privets how to not die exiting an airplane in flight. Basic leadership will be welcomed by the black hats, but never forget, wake up to lights out they are in charge. It may be allowed by reg, policy, or social norm on the North side of Marchant street side,,but once you are on the south side, Its the Airborne way or the hiway
Learning starts in the unit..gets "real" in Jumpmaster School and then continues when you get back to the unit.

Sir, issued boots worked fine for me. Provided enough support on landings, and they were broken in enough that running wasn't bad
