SGM Erik Marquez - Yes, a Detachment Sergeant is a smaller unit size equivalent to a 1SG, so if I were to have a peer evaluation it would be done by other Detachment Sergeants and 1SGs.

SGM Erik Marquez - Not all company / detachment orgs are authorized a 1SG. Movement Control Teams are an example. A SFC is the Det Sergeant with a Team Commander as a CPT, 20 dudes.

While I knew there were smaller NG /RA teams that operated more or less independently I wrongly understood they still had a company leadership meaning a 1SG and a company commander I wasn't aware that there were national guard and reserve teams who had no company leadership but work directly for a Battalion or brigade commander.

Heck even CID and IG has an assigned company level leadership

So in these national guard and reserve detachments that have a staff sergeant or assumably Lieutenant as a commander and first sergeant who is the command authority

SGM Erik Marquez - It isn't just the Reserve and Guard. Had two MCTs in 4th Sust Bde. DENTAC is also usually a Detachment. Preventative Med usually is too.
