You can always try to request a transfer. AD tho, will require a family plan- and it has to work. It can't be one of those- " Mom will fly out here to care for my kid in my quarters if I'm deployed". 1. Prove she will come, 2. she can't stay in your on post quarters. 3. You are hoping that you will have some warning of deployment. During my career, the longest warning I had was 4 days- and most of that was in lock down.

I actually reached out to an active duty recruiter and he told me because I'm a single parent I can't switch to active duty. I just didn't know if there was any other way around it because it seems like a total shut down.

That's what I was going to say. I didn't think you could enlist active duty if you're a single parent even going Guard to active.

You can be a single parent if you're already active duty. I'm a single parent - but I didn't have my daughter until I was already in 10 years and I was married at the time I had her.

The only way you could go active is you'd have to relinquish custody of your child. I highly doubt you want to do that. I wouldn't ever give up custody of my daughter.

Apparently in NG as long as I have a family care plan I am good but if I want to go active there's much more going against me. Currently I am in an MOS that would not be good for me if I want my son around so I'm hoping that I would have switched my MOS before anything goes through. I do appreciate your info un regards to my situation.
