You don&#39;t have to live in the state of your unit, and it&#39;s just easier if your unit is closer. Wouldn&#39;t trade it for anything. That being said, I wouldn&#39;t change your MOS to infantry. When you get out, you&#39;re going to want a skill that can be transferred into the civilian world. Stick with your current MOS and use your GI Bill. NG is a great component with great benefits. I left active for 6 years and now I’m in a signal unit in the guard. Just look at trying to drill close, and utilize the benefits available to you.
