I'm looking for a couple new pairs of combat boots, any recommendations?

As a Soldier, nothing is more important than taking care of your feet while in the field. I am looking for some good boots to invest in. Since the boot you wear depends on what terrain you will be in, I want to have a few options. The terrains I am interested in are: mountain/rocky, dessert/sand, and cold weather/snow/ice. 
If you have found a pair of boots that has withstood any of those conditions above what you expected, please let me know! MORE IMPORTANTLY: If you owned a pair of boots that was TERRIBLE, let me know so I don't buy it.

Sir I have a pair of bates that cost $108 that nike or rocky can't come near for being comfortable but, I know people also buy for the look I would say Rocky C4

For office/ garrison wear, The Nike SFB or Rocky C4T. As SGT Bates said, they're unbeatable in comfort. At least as far as I've seen. For a field boot, I recommend the Rocky S2V. They're tough, durable, and sole grip is awesome.

Depends are you wearing them to deploy or not. If your deploying I suggest the Oakley 6in Assault Boots. Light weight, comfortable, feel like tennis shoes. Downfall is they wear down quick so you might need to buy another pair half way thru deployment. Now if your in an Infantry unit and your CoC doesnt mind too much what you wear they are great for road marches.

After trying on about 10 different pairs of boots I decided on the Altama 5788 Tactical Assault Boot. It is comfortable, but only time will tell as I break them in.

Rockys or Nikes. IF your leadership isn't a Negative Nancy about wearing those types of boots, both are extremely comfortable. For field wear, I recommend the Rocky S2V. For garrison wear, I recommend the Rocky C4T Trainer or Nike SFB. Some may argue that these are good field boots as well, to which I'll agree as long as you aren't rucking with heavy weight. They don't have the ankle support needed for the job.

I prefer the Danner 8" Desert TFX in colder weather and the Oakley 8" Hot Weather Assault Boot when its warm. Black Hawks desert boot is really nice if you're in the office all day.

I know that the trend is in the tennis-shoe style boots but I love the Altama 5777 Ripple-Sole boots. They are unbelievable comfortable and I have never had to "break them in." I've tried a lot of Belleville's and was not satisfied with any. The Nike boots were ok but not made for the field due to their soft soles. I recently purchased some Corcoran's and have to say these are probably the best boot I've worn since my old Altima green jungle boots.

I would have to say a great pair of boots are the Nike boot, very light and good for sand and desert but not a lot of ankle support but they are the best boots I've ever had on my feet. Take a pair of standard issue belleville's break them in and have the toe and heel cups removed and have the SOPC soles put on they will make a great boot.

I love my Rocky C4s more than anything, but I wouldn't rely on them for an extended time in the field. There's just not much to them and won't last through heavy wear and tear.

The Oakley SI Hot Weather Assault boots are fantastic. They just got me through a 26 mile ruck with 1 blister (granted the socks were important too). They're also pretty breathable and lightweight.

Nike, Blackhawk, and Danner all have my vote. You can't go wrong with any of them. I have not owned a pair of Rocky S2V but they do get high praise some some of my buddies.

The only boot I haven't had luck with is Belleville, both pairs I owned lost all comfort after 2-3 months.

I know a few have said it, and I will as well: Rocky S2V. They are amazing. They are durable, comfortable, and they adapt to many conditions.

They also make an insulated, waterproof version if you ever need something for some really cold environments.

With the Bellville TR 360, I went through laces like crazy, the stitching literally came apart and boot was subject to rolling while on patrol going up steep rocky terrain areas. I had a very bad experience with them, be careful when purchasing these boots. You might have a better experience than I did, but I recommend you verifying that you have the option to bring them back if not satisfied.

The best all around and definitely most comfortable boot I've ever owned in the Oakley SI - geared towards the climates but best in warmer weather...highly recommended!

If your talking middle east go with either the new Oakley's or Nike's as they are great for running on terrain with a rucksack. They are both super lightweight and tough and breath so your feet don't sweat as bad. Don't go with Belville as they are heavy and thick. Don't buy from aafes, as they are overpriced there, go to usstandardissue.com and get them direct as Oakley sells them cheaper and direct to soldiers or hit up nikedirect for the Nike's. Just my opinion though.........

I can tell you what not to buy. The Bates M-8. I wore mine for about 6 months and the soles under the balls of my feet split. A Soldier of mine also bought the same boot, and I noticed one day that his had split in the same spot. A comfortable boot, very light, but I've never had boots split across the sole like that......

I've worn Nikes, Bates and Rocky's. The Nike are very light and comfortable but towards durability they're not the best; However the Bates and Rocky's are durable but not too comfortable for a ruck march. In my opinion as long you can alternate them the Nike are the best bang for your buck.

I am an intel analyst. I am not an infantryman, or a scout, or a tanker. I say that to preface that I have no business destroying boots like I do, but somehow I do.

First deployment I wore the standard issue Bellevilles and Oakleys. Second deployment I wore Blackhawks. Third deployment I wore Nikes. All of those I have destroyed (insides torn apart, holes, soles tearing away from rest of boot). The only ones I have found to hold up for a deployment are Rocky.

So yeah, I recommend you go with Rocky.

Boots will fit different for different people, but I have always either had the 8" Oakley's or the issued Bellevilles. I just want to say though that I am a little disappointed that a fellow SFC wore boots for 7 years knowing that they were unauthorized just because "no one cared that we wore them".

I wear Belleville 790 (Flight approved boots). They are relatively light weight, don't put as much pressure on the top of my feet as standard desert boots do and (more importantly) are gortex lined, so they're waterproof. NOthing sucks more than having wet feet..
