I’m looking for info on the 91J MOS training at Fort Lee. How can I prepare for AIT before I go?

its AIT, you are learning your job, just be professional with your instructors, don't do anything stupid while there (and if you want to know what I mean by stupid shoot me a message)and you'll be all right I'm actually at FT Lee time now at SLC.

Just get/stay in shape so you don't have any distractors while you are there. You are there to learn your job...they don't expect you to know much of anything. Pay attention in class and study what your instructors cover with you each day. Good Luck! You'll love it!

You get this awesome thing called passes that let you go to the PX or off base and do whatever you want within reason. That in mind don't forget your PT, join in with the weekend guys to get extra PT. They're failing and need people to work out with, and it helps keep you in shape. So that also means just because you can go out and eat whatever, keep an eye on what you eat. Have to keep that weight down too.

You're going to have more liberties while in AIT, you'll be allowed your phone, your laptop, a tv and xbox if you can fit it in your wall locker, etc. Don't lose sight that those are privileges and they can be taken away. They have to feed you and provide basic care that's it, they can make it Basic all over again. So your life will suck and so too will they lives of the people in your room. Fort Lee should be 3 people to a room but don't quote me on that.

I imagine 91J has a lot of learning to do, so don't think you're going to do it all from 0800 - 1700 and spend the nights and weekends off. You'll need to do additional studying to stay on top.

If you're doing well in your training, consider taking up extra projects that are offered. You never know what it will do for you. Coin, COA, AAM. Doesn't look to bad walking out of AIT with honors or a medal. Not telling you do be award crazy but if you can improve your career do it.

Lastly I mentioned privileges and passes, etc. Don't do anything stupid. You're not there that long and getting recycled isn't worth it nor is getting reclassed. Worse even, getting chaptered.

So i joined the army to be a medic and when i realized it would be alot of watching my battle buddies die since if they get really hurt the only thing that will save them is a surgeon which I am by far am not. So when I failed 68w AIT I was then reclassed to can u guess what.... and if you guessed 91J you would be correct. When you reclass you are given a job that is "needs of the army" and super easy so you dont fail twice. So if u are mechanically inclined and can read/follow a wiring diagram you will be fine. The hardest piece of equipment would be the rowpu or the ladds if you sign up for the extra week or two to do it.

I'm a former 91J. Just follow the instructor's teaching and your be fine. Keep your ears open, mouth shut and take it serious. As a 91J you could be working on various equipment that you may notice be taught in Ait. Not trying to scare you but because your going to be a Quartermaster, chemical repairer, that's a wide open field. Good luck and remember a 91 J is a Jack of all trades and a master of none.

Stay up on PT and get ready for electrical work with a multi meter and alittle mechanical work. Try to learn how to read schematics and work a multi meter and know how to use one and you should be fine.

Try to find field manuals on line related to your MOS and study them. Don't worry, Army training is geared to assuming the people being trained no nothing about what they are being trained in.

Don't believe scared of schematics they will teach you the basics and to get you to your unit but it could take years to really understand and be a expert but once you get it, you will feel a sense of accomplishment.

It's an easy course just a lot of trouble shooting a lot of the things you'll do in your unit they won't teach you about in ait and expect to cross train a lot depending on your units needs

One of the worst MOS in the military . No school ,no additional training. You will end updoing 91B's job. also you need 798 points to make sgt .. Stay motivated...
