And also any tip about PCSing and the area? 2016-02-05T18:57:21-05:00 SGT Private RallyPoint Member 1283217 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div> I'm PCSing to Carson in April. If you get a place stay west of the interstate and farther north. If you are an outdoors type of person this is a great area to be at. All units here are busy training so be ready to hit the ground running. I know when I was there 3 years ago, E-5s stayed in the barracks and usually were floor managers. As far as the area, I own a house in Falcon, Colorado and love the area. A short drive and I'm on North Powers with all the amenities. The huge downside, it's a long drive to post. As far as any area, farther North from Carson, the better. The area is nice but carson is a different breed of army. You probably will not get BAH as a single E5, the barracks will probably have NCO rooms and it could depend on your command also. as for the area, great area a lot to do there and in the surrounding areas. Denver is only about 1 hr away. E-6 and above get to live off post if they are single. SGTs usually get a room to themselves without roommates. The unit I am in have PFC and SPC living off post as the barracks room are limited. As rooms open up they will place you int he barracks but rooms are design for two occupants so if capacity reaches their max then they will have you fill out the paperwork to move off post and receive BAH. I wont recommend to get married just to get BAH but I will suggest you do your job and attend the next available promotion board. Once a SSG they have to move you off post. Lots to do recreationally off and on post. And good training to be had. As for BAH. That is a unit decision. As others have stated. If there is room in the barracks you will most likely get a room. This is a discussion you will have once arriving and getting to know your SL and above. Good luck. You are about an hour away from Denver to the North and Pueblo is only about 40 minutes away. Don't go to Pikes Peak for at least a week after you get there or they will be life flighting you to the hospital for oxygen depravation.
