I'm trying to reclassify to 17C right now. What are the odds?

Hi, I'm SPC Hao, 11B. Currently under rear attachment of 2-501 PIR at 1BCT 82 ABN DIV. Recently i have finally recovered from my back injury enough to pass a PT test (before i couldn't do sit ups, couldn't run for long, couldn't even sit down) and ready to reclass to 17C. I have finished most part of my package except the CO/1SG/and BC signatures.
I have be studying various things that's related to 17C such as python/javascript/SQL based on the Joint Cyber Analysis Course Self Study and the questionnaire. Currently i'm waiting for my career consolor to come back from leave (or something, i couldn't seems to find him) and is a bit worried about if I actually have a chance to be accepted since you can now enlist with that MOS. I'm current trying to enroll in FTCC for system security and analysis associate degree.
And here are the things that i think could look bad on my application:
I have no previous industrial experience, no certificate, no experience with networking at all. I was also born in China and didn't move to US with my parents until i was almost 14. My parents still have contact with their side of family in China once a while using wechat and I also use QQ to connect with Chinese online gaming groups.
Can anyone give me an idea of the odd i would be accepted for the reclassification?

SPC Yi Hao,
I can answer some of those questions for you. I can understand your concerns regarding the foreign contacts. My sister lives and works in China though holds American citizenship. You seem concerned about whether or not you'd qualify for the clearance required and that is something you may want to ask your folks in S2 if that is your worry.
As for the technical qualifications, the more you have the stronger your chances are. While it is true that recently they've begun pushing IET soldiers in through the training, there is still a need for all levels of ranks, and that includes E4s and E5s. It is important that the documents are in order as I've seen a lot of rejections simply because they did not pay attention to detail and the AARs of the boards indicate that failure to pay attention to the small details shows the soldier is not ready for the training. Not the greatest of benchmarks, but when they indicate the wrong 4187 is filled out, the PT cards are not current, GT/ST scores are insufficient, ERB not updated, etc, it really is a good way to trim out the packets to those who are serious about trying to get the branch transfer.
The other pieces are good to have strong letters of reference highlighting technical skills. The questionairre itself is actually easy on the surface but they'll want you to explain answers. Feel free to add me as a contact, and you can also email me your packet to review (look me up in the GAL).

Thank you very much SGT! Your information really gives me more confident over this reclassification. Right now I'm trying to work with my career counselor to make my packages as good as possible. And I've been prove reading my package over and over again to make sure the stuff are correct. Once I check the package with my CC one last time and make sure everything is currect, ill get the signatures and submit it.

SPC (Join to see) - I would still suggest you let me take a look at your package, even in its current state. My entire unit has been going through the transition so we have quite a bit of experience at knowing what a good packet looks like. If you're done and submitted, you may not be able to get feedback, need to wait until they approve or disapprove it, and then look for feedback which can delay your selection if this is the path you wish to pursue.

I would suggest that you allow staff sergeant Chen to look at your packet. Your career counselor has absolutely nothing to do with submitting your packet. This is an application MOS. It is on you apply and be accepted. Your career counselors only roll is to submit the reclass action once you are accepted. Your career counselor is not a subject matter expert in this area, and it sounds like staff sergeant Chen has a great deal of experience in it
Also, make sure that you submit the packet yourself. Many times soldiers turn in their application to their career counselor believing the career counselor is responsible for submitting it. That results in Lost and delayed applications. Once you are accepted your career counselor will need a 4187, your acceptance memo, and proof of your clearance.

Sounds like you would be a good candidate if you meet the line score requirements. The biggest problem would be your security clearance. That would be your biggest disqualifier
