Itll buy you more time. They told me at my physical if I wanted to get my shoulder looked at it would add 8 weeks until I separated. I chose to ignore my issues and it took over 5 years to get it squared away with the VA. Do the physical. These things go missing all the time. Saved my bacon. When I got the "no record exists; go away" from the VA, I sent them and my VSO a CD. Med types find it easier to use the dumpster vs. properly sending it off. Therefore you have completed a few military task/missions/deployment... it would behoove you to complete this part of your out processing THOROUGHLY because if you ever want to file for any issues concerning VA (veteran assistant) it's better to have it annotated by a military medical physician BEFORE you leave the service. Good luck! But it sounds like you are Active Duty so, odds are you probably were in support of some mission that would qualify. Let this be a lesson learned if you ever return to the service. Sometimes you have to advocate for yourself when you know that your ETS is coming up. I had similar situation that did not work out same way when I was going from one set of deployment orders to another set that was supposed to continuous. The short on that one, is they did not get the orders in time and thus I had to REFRAD with 49 days of earned leave that I had to cash out . To only get my next set of orders to be in effect a about three weeks later. I sure would had liked to used the leave the way it was intended vs the way I had to cash it out. That was my learning point that I have shared with many others. Strive to get your stuff in order for yourself when it manners the most...
