Then you need to speak with that unit and find out if they'd be willing to take you. Then you'd need to talk with your current Commander to see if they'd be willing to let you go. Now, if you do end up in a unit that is Airborne and they require you to be Airborne qualified...and you're not Airborne....guess where you'd be going.? To Airborne school. Find the unit to which you would like to transfer. 2. Call their full-time staff to ensure they have an open slot and are willing to accept you. 3. Get the para/line for that slot and pass it on to your IST coordinator.

It's a pretty easy process as an E1-E4, when you get above that it's a little harder to find an opening because they like to promote NCOs internally. When I was in the LRS company in Indiana, we had soldiers transfer in taking reductions from E6 down to E4 just so they could get in. They can put you in contact with 1st Bn (A) - 143d Inf, which is part of the 173d Abn BCT. And yes, you'll have to go to jump school if you're accepted. When transitioning to the ARNG, the slots within those units are interview only slots, meaning the unit has to accept you. I've never put anyone in that particular unit, but in discussing it with other Reserve Counselors, they use a scoring system and if you are not Airborne or Ranger qualified they generally will not accept you. Is there still an ABN unit in TX guard? 2. Will they pay for you to go to ABN School. Do they have an Abn Slot for you to fill? As for a specfic unit you will have to talk to their S1 or CSM before you in process.
