I recieved this gem from my father. My Grandfather's Eisenhower Jacket from WW2. Any recommendations on how to best properly preserve?

The best route is to see a clothing conservator. They will be able to judge what needs to be done, i.e. fabric cleaning, stabilization, threadwork, etc. Go for repairs to what was done back in the day vs. cross stitching patches. Then it's a matter of how you want to display it. Presuming you don't want it vacuum sealed in a dark bag for storage, but want people to see it, consider a large shadow box. For that, acid free surfaces and UV reflecting glass is advised. If you have anything else you'd like to have in that shadowbox, most anything is doable. Controlling the storage environment is key. Reducing dust and dust mites is a good idea with the box. Even then, don't put it where sunlight can hit it. Over time, clothing doesn't like large swings in temperature and humidity. The shaded wall side of the den is good. Also ditch any fluorescent lighting as they put out a lot of UV. Now enjoy the memory of your grandfather every time you pass by it.

CAPT Kevin B. Thank you!! A colleague of mine has also recommended Heritage Arsenal; they specialize in military memorabilia and preservation on a larger scale though.

I love this jacket! My father is still holding onto my great uncle's jacket as well!
