I reenlisted for Korea, (with a report date of November 20th), in hopes of later bringing my family there on CSP. However my current unit is scheduled to deploy around October. My levy brief is May 2nd. I am expecting to go to NTC in June but I am planing to try and get an early report date, up to 60 days, so my children can start school in South Korea on time. I would also like to take up to 60days of leave in conjunction with PCS so I can see my family in the Philippines . What is the likelihood of my plans falling into place and what is the likelihood of my unit fencing me for the deployment?

If the original question is to dependent on "IFs" can anyone answer, to the best of their knowledge, what the likely outcome is if we only take my PCS date and my current units deployment into question?

Also, you can request command sponsorship prior to going to Korea so your family can travel with you. If you do, you would need to start on that now. Send me an email and I can get you the info you need: [login to see]

Thank you so much, 8th Army policy is that I can only submit the CSP packet once Im within 180 days of my original date on my orders. I am tracking that there is a good chance I will be denied so I'm planning for the worst. I will definately email you tomorrow with further details so as to not waste your time. Again, thank you so much SFC.

If I read this correctly both units will deploy andvyour requests would getvyou our if both? 60 days leavevis highly unusual, you can ask. Early report for family and school is possible, but early report with an extended leave may not addd up. You need to make these requests soon or run the risk that either unit will not support. My opening comment is meant to allow you to see how someone may view your request at first glance. Thank you for your service v

You can do a 4187 requesting to report 60 days early. By doing this you won’t have to use any leave to capture the 60days if approved. Next, if you reenlisted for your Korea assignment your unit can’t make you go on the deployment because you have a contract of enlistment for Korea. Next, 60days of leave must be approved by the BDE Cdr, however, if you don’t have 60days accumulated most won’t approve it. I hope this helps.
