Positives and negatives of being a 94H? I (SSG) am getting medically reclassed from 11C. I have a AIT report date of 30OCT2015 @ FT Lee. How is AIT? Where could I be stationed? 2015-08-27T07:11:08-04:00 SFC(P) Private RallyPoint Member 921236

I am looking for as much info on this MOS as possible. Believe it or not, it has happened a lot. I've had a SFC Motor SGT who re-classed from 11B to 91B. He ended up being a really good maintenance manager. Work hard and pay attention at AIT. I have yet to see an actual 94H in any of our units. Usually there are TMDE labs on post and the units take their calibration required items there. I can tell you this, if you ever wanted to go into that field after the Army, you shouldn't have an issue supporting a Military base at many locations. This was back in 2001 and it could be different now. AIT should have it own sets of challenges going from 11C to a more technical career field. You'll also have the opportunity to work with some pretty high tech equipment throughout the rest of your career. The job itself is rewarding since everyday the repairs and calibrations you make are for real world mission essential equipment that is necessary for many other folks to do their job.

The downside to being a 94H are definitely promotions. Reaching SSG is very attainable at a reasonable rate. Once you make SFC you merge with many other 94 series MOSs to become a 94W. This has been relatively difficult for any 94 series to achieve over the last few years. We are not a MOS with a lot of room to advance passed SSG. In addition, the 94W incorporates calibrators, avionics maintenance, missile maintenance, and ground electronics maintenance. That's a broad spectrum of electronic maintenance and depending on your background combined with your duty position it could be pretty tough in the inial stages of learning your new position.
Overall the MOS is great. I came through the ranks as a 94E and currently serve as a 1SG for an AIT company of 91Bs. Everything's interchange as long as you keep up. Enjoy your new MOS and feel free to look me up in E 16th once you get there if you have questions.
