I don't get it. I have more than 20+ years in the medical field, 18 of which was in military. I applied to 2 direct hire jobs with the CDC and 2 with Homeland Security for the response to the COVID-19 issue back in May and there were about 27 locations available. I don't understand the delay and if they need people to fill those positions, why aren't they contacting people to say whether or not you are qualified by their standards? It just shows your submission was recieved, yet there is no communication after that. I also have some submissions that are just for medical support, 2 are referred, but again no more communication; 1 was back in January, the other just last week. This has been going on for years. There are 3 people that I worked with at my last place of employment, all 3 got hired out at the VA, all are civilians and no prior military experience. So, why is that?

SGT Lenise Hamilton - I don't know about being "black-balled", but I will be contacting my state representative to see if they can be any assistance. There were 350 positions at the VA Hospital in Las Vegas, NV. Some were filled for nursing, but half of these vacancies remain. Not sure why this is going on, the atmosphere out there is not a positive one. I've applied to other states/regions too. I'll just keep trying.

Hi TSgt Parham,
I wish you all the best in your endeavors, applying to other locations may be a good thing for you since the atmosphere seems to be on the low end for a favorable working environment. Keep on marching, your journey to greatness is truly before you. I can see it
now you must believe it as well.......

This could be a number of things. Are you tailoring your resume to the jobs themselves? Are you using a federal resume? It is different that your normal resume. It took awhile for me to get picked up as a GS05. Sometimes you have to work your way up to, if you are applying to higher potions you may not get get it, do to not having any GS experience.

TSgt Lee Parham - Have you been referred on any of them? Just curious, I don't know of any hiring freeze. It could just be the area you are looking in. I wish I had a better answer for you. I started doing USAJOBS back in 2016 when i was leaving active duty. I was a year before I heard anything or was even referred.

2 for the Medical Support positions I appled to. 1 back in January that I have not heard from since the notification was sent and another last week that I was referred to. I've been applying since 2012 just with a veteran status, then in 2014 as a disabled vet.

In general there is not a current job freeze on but that doesn't mean all agencies are hiring. Not all jobs that get advertised on USAJOBS get filled. Many times they go through the whole process to decide not to hire anyone at that time. If you have a more specific question in regards to job series, or agency I will do my best to help answer. I was medically retired from the Marine Corps and have been a GS11 since Sep 2014. I have worked as a GS for Dept of Navy and USDA.
