The whole process was going to take a very long time and I was going to get bumped back down to E-3 so I moved on to other options. Of course that was in 2005 or so and things have probably changed since then.Response by CPT Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 1 at 2017 6:34 PM2017-09-01T18:34:29-04:002017-09-01T18:34:29-04:00PO3 Private RallyPoint Member2885941

I have an e-3 onboard, former Army. Strange, quiet fellow, but a good worker.

Yes, you will probably be bumped down to E-3, but boot is 3 weeks (go DEPOT), and depending on what rate you go, boot to A school is a possibility.

Currently, boot to A are OS (operations specalists), CS (cooks, lifeblood if they're
Good), EM, ET (I think), and MK.

If you're an Aviation, or Medic, you could possibly fight for going to those specific A school's, but I doubt it'll work.

Anyrhi ng the recruiter says, get in writing, and possibly tacked onto your contract.Response by PO3 Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 1 at 2017 8:47 PM2017-09-01T20:47:09-04:002017-09-01T20:47:09-04:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member2886134

From a Recruiting perspective: Why?

Curious what draws you to the Coast Guard, and what made you pick the Army to begin with.Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 1 at 2017 10:14 PM2017-09-01T22:14:00-04:002017-09-01T22:14:00-04:00SGT Charles Moore3189213

Go buy some tampons and that’s basically it.Response by SGT Charles Moore made Dec 21 at 2017 10:29 AM2017-12-21T10:29:42-05:002017-12-21T10:29:42-05:00CPO Richard Weir3544325

I served 6yrs army got out went to college and went in the USCG best move I ever made.
