I’ve been selected for a promotion but I haven’t attended the required school; will I be pinned for promotion when I accept the position?

Another national guard unit has just selected me to receive a promotion slot but I haven’t went to the required NCO course will I be pinned when I accept the slot or will I have to go the the course first? I know I may be asking as crazy question.

AR 600-8-19: enlisted promotions and reductions. Additional, check with HRC for any MILPR messages that may pertain due to C-19 conditions. Your unit HR rep should have Additional guidance

Soldiers can occupy slots on the roster (MTOE/UMR) without being the correct rank/mos.
If you have been boarded and have points for promotion, there is a COVID waiver for NCOES, check the MILPR messages.

SGT Eric Davis Are you currently on the PPRL under non-promotable due to no PME? If so there is a memo out there that explains the STEP promotion due to COVID. SM's are being picked up with not having PME like myself. I was part of the first wave. I can send you that memo if you like, let me know.
