I've recently attended court for a subordinate speeding here on post, do you believe MPs should focus more agressively on speeders or less?

I think that on fort Gordon they are too aggressive. You know that if you are going 1 mile per hour over the speed limit you will get pulled over. So when driving down chamberlain you are so focused on your speedometer that you may fail to see that Soldier jet out to cross the street.

SSG David Roberts,
That is a good point, sorta like the recently passed Georgia law on distracted driving. However, I normally set my cruise control to 25 and then watch the road. Granted if your cruise doesn't allow below a certain speed this would not work for you, but if you have cruise give it a try. The jury's still out for me I'm just trying to gadge perceptions because my subordinate, according to the court, was traveling 5-10 over the posted speed on the morning in question and the Soldier told me they were guilty, but I saw a lot of Soldiers in there for speeding on Chamberlain in particular.

Chamberlain is a bad road for tickets. I never got one (knock on wood) but there is so much going on on that street that if you are distracted for a second you could hit a Soldier. I do comply with the speed limits but I think that if you are going 26 mph on that street you shouldn't have to fear getting pulled over especially since you have to pay such close attention to the pedestrians

Where they need to police better are range road between the gate 5 shoppette and the NSA complex. I have seen people zoom past me going what must have been 60 in a 40.
I will agree, they are pretty tough on Chamberlain, as they should be. With all the crosswalks, there are still occasionally people who brush the fates of death because both the Soldier crossing the road and the driver of the vehicle are distracted.
While enforcement for automobiles is important, someone needs to remind the young troops that even if they are in a crosswalk, it's not some sort of magical force field. A crosswalk is nothing more than lines painted on the road.

***Update*** Spoke to the Provost Marshall this afternoon. The one-mile-over Rule is a rumor. They do not pull anyone over for going over by one mile. Gate 1 is reduced to 10 miles-an-hour outbound in the morning as opposed to the 15 at gate two. Why are they not consistent? The answer I received was; Quote “that’s the way the Post Commander wants it” end quote. Oh, also, on Range road between the pond and the NSA, they station an MP there intermittently in order to catch drivers coming down the hill too fast.

More and less. I have had Soldiers get a ticket for 1 MPH over and it was not even a warning. 1 MPH over ticket is kind of pushing it. But again law is law. I will roll out gate 1 and I am doing the 25 MPH and people will just blow by me like I was nothing. Also it's a lot like that on chamberlin at 0545. But nothing happens. But as soon as I speed once I will get a ticket.

SSG (Join to see) - I believed both gates dropped their speed to 15 as you reach the Gaurd Post. However, if not, that does seem inconsistent.
