The people I worked with, getting to work with my hands... But now, I realize that I have no passion for it. My unit doesn't do plumbing projects, so I am forced to learn other MOS skills that I have no interest in . Even though I have become proficient in my units other MOS ( 12R-Electrician, 12W-Carpentry masonry) I don't enjoy it. Like I said, I enjoy the people I work with and I enjoy being a team leader, but I would take a demotion to be doing something that I am actually passionate about. I would much rather be a medic or something related. My question is this: how do I go about reclassing and what kind of 68 series MOS are out there SGT Private RallyPoint Member Wed, 31 Jan 2018 11:08:49 -0500 2018-01-31T11:08:49-05:00 Response by MSG Dan Castaneda made Jan 31 at 2018 12:06 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/i-want-to-completely-change-my-military-career-do-you-have-any-advice-on-reclassifying-from-an-engineering-to-a-medical-mos?n=3310527&urlhash=3310527

Call an SF recruiter. If you are not in your reenlistment window you can request for a voluntary reclass. Check the link below and view the hyperlink "Milper message 17-296". It list all MOS's open for reclass including the medical field. Read through it and it will explain how the reclass process works. Your retention can explain to your more of this process. However, there is a new Milper message that was put out on the 19th of jan and takes effect today but HRC hasn't posted it on the reenlistment site yet. So there may be a few changes to it. Retention can get you the updated version. But here’s the other side of the coin: it is very difficult to get promoted in these MOSs. You will have to max PT, weapons, college, etc to move up and it gets even more competitive at the senior ranks. Many 68 series (who work in the hospital) have bachelors degrees, and many have MS degrees too (I’m working on mine now).

But getting into another MOS is just spinnin’ Your wheels, IMO. Get that degree, then cross over to the dark side and make some real SGM Private RallyPoint Member Sun, 04 Feb 2018 00:35:50 -0500 2018-02-04T00:35:50-05:00 2018-01-31T11:08:30-05:00
